Monika Jha, the visionary Founder, and CEO of Bengaluru-based Cydee Technologies, stands at the forefront of energy-efficient street lighting innovation. The company’s patented street lighting technology optimizes illumination, reducing the number of streetlights needed by 40% and resulting in substantial energy and cost savings. With innovative features such as IoT integration, anti-theft solar systems, auto-switching, dimming, and proximity sensing, Cydee’s solutions are designed to enhance safety and efficiency on roads, achieving up to 30% energy and 40% monetary savings.
An alumnus of R V College of Engineering, Bengaluru, with a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Monika's journey began with a final year project on the automation of street lighting. This project soon evolved into a larger mission when her research unveiled significant inefficiencies in existing street lighting infrastructure, including damaged, underlit, and overlit areas. Driven by a passion for technological solutions to energy and water crises, Monika launched Cydee Technologies to address these issues head-on.
Under Monika's leadership, Cydee Technologies has garnered significant recognition and support. The start-up was selected as a power accelerator by Shell Foundation, DFID UK Government, and Zone Start-ups, receiving a grant of USD 10,000. Additionally, it triumphed in the Social Alpha Urban Liveability Challenge, securing further grants and pilot opportunities.
Cydee's groundbreaking work has been supported by AIC Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Selco Foundation, STPI IoT Open Lab, We Hub (Telangana Government), Telangana State Innovation Cell, and MEITY.

She has been honored with the ‘Most Energy Efficient Technology’ award by Mr. RK Singh, the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, under the aegis of EESL, the Power Ministry of India, WRI, World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. Her startup received grants and mentorship from the Powered Accelerator, Shell Foundation, and DFID UK Government. Monika’s innovative approach also earned her the runner-up position at the Earth Tech Challenge in Australia.
